Sophia Amoruso

Sophia Amoruso (born April 20, 1984, in San Diego, California) is the founder and owner of Nasty Gal, which sells women's fashion including modern and vintage clothing, shoes and accessories for young women which can all be found on the brand's website. It was called one of "the fastest growing companies" by ''Inc. Magazine'' in 2012. After being diagnosed with depression and attention deficit disorder (ADD), she dropped out of school and began homeschooling. She had many jobs as a teenager, her first ever job being in Subway. After discovering she had hernia in her groin, she realized that she needed to get a job with health insurance to pay for the required medical treatments. At this job, which was checking student's ID at the lobby of a school, Amoruso found her passion in Myspace and eBay. That is when she sold her first item on her eBay shop, called Nasty Gal Vintage, a stolen book.
== Early life ==
Sophia Amoruso was born on a Good Friday, April 20, 1984, in San Diego, California. She found school and the education system difficult and was consistently labelled under mental disabilities including attention deficit disorder and Tourette's syndrome by her fourth-grade teacher. After being sent to a psychiatrist in 2000, Amoruso was diagnosed with depression and ADD. She did not feel comfortable continuing highschool and was given the option of being homeschooled.
In 2001, Amoruso's parents got divorced. She was not bothered by this, and used it as more motivation to become her own person, and grow individually. She did this by moving in with a group of musically talented men in downtown Sacarmento.
As a young adult, she spent her time hitchhiking near West Coast, dumpster diving and stealing.〔 The first ever object she sold on her online eBay shop was a stolen book. Since she had little money, she took stealing very seriously and stole almost everything from bras to oil pastels. In 2003, while living in Portland, Oregon, Amoruso got caught stealing and decided to stop stealing permanently. She didn't want to have a criminal record, therefore after getting caught, she admitted to customer service that she has stole from them. Loss-prevention fined her and that was the end of her stealing from then on because she believed that stealing was a way that was "killing my () inner #GIRLBOSS" and how glad she was to be alive.〔
